I believe that therapy is more than just a place where a person goes to talk with another person about things that are affecting them. Therapy, to me, is a place where someone can be unapologetically themselves to heal the past, master the present and feel secure about their future. Some aspects of therapy that I enjoy including but are not limited to exploring perspectives, both our own and others’ as well as identifying what is within our control to make an effective change in our life.
I have completed training in multiple different treatment modalities including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS). With DBT, we ground ourselves in the present moment to become more effective with distress tolerance skills, emotional regulation skills, and skills that improve the relationship not only with other people, but within ourselves as well. With CBT, we will connect how thoughts and behaviors contribute to the issues we are experiencing and with IFS we seek to understand the parts of us that are experiencing hurt as a way to begin lifting the heavy feelings we are carrying and replace them with lighter, more pleasant emotions.
I see myself as a jack of all trades, a Swiss army knife of the therapy world as I am comfortable working with mental health disorders and symptoms of all shapes and sizes. Whether it be seasonal depression or something more severe and persistent, I believe that we can work through it therapeutically and effectively. My goal is to foster a safe and comfortable environment for you as my client so we can figure out in a collaborative fashion what we can do to make you the most effective you that you can be.
